Calculating the distance from Mumbai, the city is 112 kilometers away. The distance from Pune is less which is 54 kilometers approximately. Hence, people like to go on a road trip in their cars. The distance from Aurangabad is 270 kilometers approximately. The distance from Delhi is 1222 kilometers approximately. It is best travelled by train or flight if you are taking a journey from other parts of India but Maharashtra. Even weekend getaway may not possible if you are not around the city.

If you are planning for a two days trip to Raigad, with minimum expenditure, you can expect a sum of Rs 6000 to Rs 8000. Due to the presence of this water body, there are several water activities that one can attempt. It has a coastline of 5 kilometers filled with palm trees that enhance the view. The administration of the Maratha Empire, especially during the time of Shivaji, took place in Raj Bhavan. People visit this bhavan to have a look and witness the life of the then ruler and the royal family. The wooden columns on four sides are brilliant. The construction is on two platforms and depicts both modern as well as ancient architecture and facility. When you visit this place, don’t miss out on grenades depot, Wagh Darwaja, Takmak Tok and Rameshwar Mandir.

Maharashtra is proud of how Raigad has still been able to maintain the art and culture of the state. Maratha Empire’s dignity is still alive.

How to Reach Raigad?

By road, you can get buses to Raigad from any city of Maharashtra especially from Mumbai, Pune, Mahabaleshwar and Kolhapur. If you are travelling from a different state, then the railway is the best mode of transport. You can take a train to Mumbai junction. From there, you can go to Dasgaon Railway station. From there, you take a local transport, taxi or bus and reach Raigad or continue with you train journey to Raigad.

There are people who like to travel only by air. For those, don’t worry! There is a flight from any part of the country to the nearest airport, Mumbai International Airport. The distance is only 72 kilometers from Raigad. From there, you can take a local transport.

During summer, the temperature rises too high and makes your stay uncomfortable to every bit. It may be a solo trip, a family trip or a trip with friends, ensure you travel during winter, from November to February. Also, if you travel in winter, you have an opportunity to witness festivals that happen around this season.
