Tamhini Ghat Waterfalls: Another name for this waterfall is Valse. Falling from a height that is magnificent, the base is a pool. This attracts tourists from India every year during its peak season. People are seen coming on adventure trips as well as family trips for weekend getaways.

Although built for useful purposes such as irrigation and power generation, Bhira Dam was built by Tata Power Company in the year 1927 which has become an attractive rafting point. It is popularly known as Tata Powerhouse Dam.

3. Ghosala Fort

What makes this fort a popular tourist attraction is the architecture and the historical design. Within the complex are temples as well as dargah for people who believe in religious offerings. It stands between the cleeks of Revdanda and Salav.

4. Kuda Mandad Caves

Located in Janjira Hills, Kuda Mandad Caves are a cluster of 13 Buddhist Caves. When you visit this place, you will find many sculptures, paintings along with old inscriptions that will attract you. 5. Gaimukh

It is a pilgrim centre that is known by the name “the mouth of a cow”. It is situated in Thane and has Lord Shiva’s temple. Hence, the festival of Shivratri is celebrated with galore in this location.

Maharashtra being a state that houses a number of forts, Tala Fort is one of them. Kolad is popular for this fort and serves as an eye candy to the city. If you reach the hilltop where the fort is situated, you can view the beautiful river Rajpuri.

How to Reach Kolad?

The best mode of transportation to Kolad is train. That doesn’t make the place confined to one mode of transport only. You can easily travel by a bus from cities nearby. Road trip from Mumbai will take approximately 2 to 3 hours as the distance is 120 kilometers. If you are on a family trip from other parts of India, travelling by train to Mumbai Junction and then from there, taking another train to Kolad will be the best means.

If you are travelling by air, the nearest airport is either Pune or Mumbai. From the airport, you can choose to take any commercial vehicle that will cost you a minimal amount. Your weekend getaway with friends is sorted.

Best Time to Travel Kolad?

Although this little village has pleasant weather round the clock, the best time, however, is either winter or monsoon. The place gets the most beautiful in Monsoon. Try and be here when it is the right time.

Meanwhile, you can also see other places around such as Pune, Lonavala, Kamshet, Khandala, Ajanta and Ellora Caves and the city that never sleeps, that is Mumbai.
